ACUPUNCTURE

While Acupuncture is widely known to relieve pain, it also works for acute and chronic conditions. It does not separate the body, mind or spirit and therefore addresses disharmonies of the body, mind and spirit. It looks at everything about a person, including lifestyle and stress.

Acupuncture has proven to be an excellent therapy for the treatment of emotional disorders.

What About Needles?

The needles used to stimulate Acupuncture points have no resemblance to hypodermic syringes. Acupuncture needles are not hollow, but very slender and barely beyond the thickness of a human hair. Needles are sterile and disposable – never reused. Most insertions are just beneath the skin surface, but the depth depends upon the nature of the problem, the patient’s size, age and constitution.

How Does it Work?

By choosing Acupuncture, you have opted for a gentle healing method without harmful side effects. Chinese Medicine is based on an integrated understanding of the bodily functions, which depend on the flow of energy, called Qi. In the healthy state, the Qi is flowing harmoniously. When the harmony is out of balance, disease and malfunctions of the organs may occur. When an Acupuncture needle is inserted at specifically designated points which correspond to specific organs and body functions, it has a harmonizing influence on the flow of the Qi.

During a treatment, specific acupoints are being stimulated, and you may feel a slight energizing sensation. Afterwards, you may feel changes in your systems as the Qi begins to address imbalances. This feeling is very subtle in the beginning and tends to increase with the number of Acupuncture sessions.

The best way to support your Acupuncture treatment is:

  • healthy eating
  • lots of fresh air
  • adequate amount of rest
  • moderate or low impact exercise
